Polokwane City and Durban City could not be separated in their latest Betway Premiership assignment, following a 0-0 draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.

In what was a game of missed opportunities for both sides, the result saw the KwaZulu-Natal side maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Durban City went right at Polokwane City from the get go after Samkelo Maseko created the first scoring chance in the first minute with a right-footed shot inside the area.

With early momentum, Durban City saw most of the ball during the early exchanges of the game.

Gavin Hunt’s charges came close to breaking the deadlock once more in the 13th minute, as Joslin Kamatuka forced goalkeeper Brian Bwire into action following an effort from the side of the 18-yard-area.

In an attempt to make a reply to Durban City’s advancements, Polokwane City increased their attacking activity midway through the first half.

Sapholwethu Kelepu first had an unsuccessful shot from range in the 20th minute, while Surprise Manthosi and Manuel Kambala recorded missed attempts before the break.

Rise and Shine were the better team at the restart as the possession count swung in their favour leading up to the hour-mark.

Along with their time on the ball, Sibusiso Tshabalala and Manthosi increased Polokwane City’s shots at goal statistics.

Durban City played under the cosh for large periods during the second half and often battled to get the ball up the pitch successfully.

The travelling side then saw more of the ball as the 80th minute approached while Polokwane City’s attacking thrust died down slightly.

Siphamandla Ncanana nearly gave Durban City the lead in the 82nd minute after connecting with Haashim Domingo’s cross from a corner.

With his header going wide off the mark, Durban City kept applying pressure going forward.

In the end, neither side were able to make the most of their opportunities during stoppage time with the game ending at 0-0 in the Limpopo province.
